What kinds of conditions do you treat?
We specialise in:
- paediatric neurorehabilitation of children with neuro-developmental conditions such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida, congenital and acquired brain injuries and many more. The list of the most common neurological diseases in children that are treated at the ADELI Medical Center can be found here
- Neurorehabilitation and treatment for adults with acquired neurological conditions caused, for example, by strokes or brain injury, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury and many more. The list of the most common conditions in adults that are treated at the ADELI Medical Center can be found here
Please do not hesitate to contact us if the specific condition is not on the list, our doctors will consult your case for free.
How should I know if this rehabilitation will actually help me / my family member?
We need short anamnesis (history of illness/condition development) and all available medical reports that you have from your doctors. After we receive those from you, they are examined by chief doctors of the ADELI Centre who will prepare their statement for you.
How can I apply for your treatment course?
After clarifying all the issues required for the admission and learning that a place is available for you on your desired date, send the completed admission form to us either by fax, post or apply online. We will send you all the documents that are required for the admission within our first mail. In the unlikely event that they are not included in the mail, you can download them from here
How do I get more information, e.g. about costs, free consultations, etc?
Best advice is to use the contact form on our web page – free of charge and non-binding information material will be sent to you automatically per post. We shall also contact you over the phone within 2 working days, in order to ask you some important questions and, vice-versa, answer yours.
Is the treatment not too intensive for the patient? Are there breaks between therapies?
The treatment program is developed for the patient individually. It is created in a way that maximises the effect of the therapies, without him/her getting tired or not feeling well. The daily programme is usually gone through in a single block, but breaks can be planned.
Is there medical help outside the ADELI working hours?
The next hospital is only 500m away. There is also an emergency medical service in your hotel.
Does my insurance institution take over the costs?
According to the EU Cross Border Healthcare Directive, you have the right to apply for healthcares in any EEA state you choose but you must comply with certain requirements to qualify for reimbursement of your treatment by your health care provider. The „Directive route‟ is based on an individual exercising his or her rights to obtain health services on the open market within the EU, under article 56 of the Lisbon Treaty. It has been called the „Article 56 route‟ previously. You will normally have to pay for all of your treatment upfront and claim reimbursement from your insurance provider when you return. We will provide appropriate invoices/receipts to facilitate this. For a comprehensive overview, please check out also this Flowchart.
How does the arrival and departure work?
If you are travelling by plane or train, we can pick you up with one of our mini buses from the airports or from the main railway stations in Vienna or Bratislava. At the end of your stay, we will be happy to drop you back to the airport or the railway station. Your coordinator will need your flight/train details, respectively. The transfer time from / to the Vienna airport is about 1 hour 20 minutes and to / from the Bratislava airport is about 40 minutes. If you arrive be car – a route plan can be sent to you in advance.
How does it work with the accommodation and its cost?
The centre has more than 60 rooms in different categories (double rooms, apartments and economy apartments). All our rooms, as well as the rest of our clinic, are specially equipped to meet the requirements of our patients and accordingly designed for wheelchair users and have a balcony, bathroom with bath or shower, satellite TV with flat screen, refrigerator, hairdryer, telephone and free-of-charge WIFI. Upon request, we will be happy to equip your room with a nursing bed. You receive a thorough overview of the accommodation possibilities and the respective costs for each category in the first information package we send you per post.
What should we take with us? What is not available in Slovakia?
Don’t worry – there is everything what you have in your home country. Slovakia has been a member of the European Union for years and adapted EURO as currency in 2009. International supermarket chains are widely present here. Just pack whatever you would take for a 2-4 week vacation.
Can you meet special needs in connection with board/food, e.g. in case of allergies?
Yes, we can – please inform your coordinator before your arrival, so arrangements with the hotels can be made. If you or the patient requires a special diet, this is also not a problem: we will also be happy to cook diet meals for you.
What do I do during my child’s therapy sessions?
It depends on the patient, required care and parents themselves. Some parents are happy to drop their children off for the therapy, others prefer to attend the session. Both scenarios are fine. If you are unsure as to whether you should stay, wait or leave, please feel free to consult with the therapists. However, while your little ones are being taken care of, we encourage you (family members, guardians, attendants) to take some time off to relax for a while and either enjoy a snack at the cafeteria, surf the Internet at our computer corner, take a massage or just take a walk through the extensive park. In addition, our centre also has a 25 meter swimming pool, sauna, gym, hydro-massage and bicycle rental. For more information, please check out the section on leisure & recreation
What happens at the end of our rehabilitation course?
The last doctor’s examination takes place, and you receive a medical report with diagnosis, conducted treatments, achieved results and further recommendations, as well as financial documents for your insurance institution.
How often should we do the rehabilitation?
Each patient differs from the other, and you will receive your individual recommendation at the end of your rehabilitation stay. However, this treatment should not be done too often; on average once to three times per year. Yet again – every patient is informed individually at the last medical examination by his doctor and recommendation is stated in the final medical report.
If there is anything else you would like to know or would like to discuss, please feel free to send us your inquiry through our contact form
